Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman is happy with his side win over Athletic Bilbao last night and has praised the effort of the team.

Athletic Bilbao went behind in the game through Inaki Williams goal in the 3rd minute of the game, but the Spanish giant came behind to win the game with young star Pedri on the score sheet so as Lionel Messi.

Speaking after the game, Koeman praised the effort of his team and how they were able to turn the tie around despite Athletic Bilbao putting up a good fight.

"The final result is a bit short because we were better in many phases," Koeman said.

"They went 1-0 up and we didn't have defensive coordination, but then we controlled [the game].

"I leave happy with the result and how we achieved it.

"We deserved to win for our play and the opportunities [we created]. The team did a fantastic job."

Koeman also revealed his side are ready to fight to the end they look to find their way back to the top of the La Liga table.

"We're going to fight until the last game," Koeman added

"There's a gap [to the top] but we're on the right path."

Ronald Koeman was also quick to point out the brilliant performance of club captain Lionel Messi who got two goals during the game.

"Messi has always shown his game and his hunger but today he did it with goals too,"

"He's so important."

Not only Lionel Messi was fantastic in the entertaining tie, but young star Pedri was also in brilliant form and Koeman couldn't help but also praised the 18-year-old.

"Pedri is showing that, despite his young age, he's very mature," Koeman added
