Back to Kepa, Big worries for Frank Lampard

Back to Kepa, big worries for Frank Lampard

Edouard Mendy has returned to Chelsea after sustaining an injury while on international duty with Senegal.

Earlier yesterday the Senegalese Football federation released a statement that Edouard Mendy has returned to Chelsea after sustaining an injury in his right thing.

The news is a big blow for Frank Lampard who after the last Premier League game 4 nil win over Crystal Palace thinks he has finally gotten his formation right and will want to continue to use the same back backline after the International break.

With Mendy now injured, Frank Lampard will have no choice to return to Kepa Arrizabalaga and hasn't been impressive for Chelsea which is while they brought in Mendy from Rennes.

It is also yet to determine when Mendy will be fit to play again as the statement from the Senegalese Football federation didn't indicate how long the Chelsea goalkeeper will be out.

The statement reads: 'The Senegalese Football Federation announces the goalkeeper of the National Selection Edouard Mendy sustained an injury to the right thigh that occurred during the training session on Wednesday, October 07, 2020 and has undergone a medical examination at the hospital in Rabat.

'Edouard Mendy has also left the group this afternoon to return to his Club (Chelsea) where he will undergo further examinations.

'The Senegalese Football Federation wishes him a speedy recovery.

'He will be replaced by the young goalkeeper of the U20 national team, Boubacar Fall, who was regrouping in Toubab Dialao and who moved to Rabat in the early evening.'

Chelsea plays Southampton next weekend and all Frank Lampard will hope for before this day is that 28-year old Edouard Mendy is fit to start in goal again.
