We are not afraid of Juventus - Memphis Depay

Lyon captain Memphis Depay is confident of his side as they take on Juventus in the Champions League on Friday.

Lyon will head to Turin with a 1 goal advantage as they beat Juventus in the first leg of the encounter by a goal to nil. Depay didn't take part in the game cause he was injured at that time.

However, the fit-again captain believes his side will be fearless when they take on Juventus and will do this with every bit of motivation they have in them.

'[The first leg] was the first match I watched [after suffering a serious knee injury], and I saw a team spirit that made me so very happy,' Depay said while speaking with UEFA.com

'Juve weren't playing well. But now, months later, the situation is totally different. They have now played more matches than we have, so many aspects are now completely different to normal.'

'But that has allowed me to be able to play in the Champions League. I am ready.'

'With the new rules [one-off games from the last eight onwards], anyone can be favourites. Because you know there are only one-off games.'

'And Juventus have some very experienced players when it comes to playing finals. We, on the contrary, have a lot of young players who don't have much experience with the pressure of playing in finals and the Champions League.'

'We'll just have to see. I do know that we have a very eager team and that we are definitely not afraid.'

The game will be however a big test for Lyon as they haven't played for some time now as the Ligue 1 season was called off due to the Pandemic.

One could tell the players struggled a little bit during the Coupe de la Ligue final against Paris Saint-Germain last Friday.

However, this is the UEFA Champions League and a place in the Quater final is at stake, so we expect a brilliant performance from Rudi Garcia and his boys.
