"That was a very very very very good team" Thierry Henry praises the Super Eagles of 1994.

Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry has heaped encomiums on the Super Eagles squad of 1994 at the world cup in the USA.

The team comprised and boasted prominent names like Jay-Jay Okocha, Emmanuel Amunike, Late Rashidi Yekini, Finidi George, Late Stephen Keshi amongst others.

The French legend who was interviewed by Kenyan Journalist Idah Waringa was questioned about his preferred African team ever in the game of football.

The 43-year-old referred to three teams in particular while sharing his ideal thoughts about them.

"Well, I'm sure you remember us losing against Senegal. I had a lot of opportunities to play against a lot of African countries but I remember Cameroon at the good generation but I remember also the super Eagles 94.

"That was a very very very very good team. The Nigerians were very good technically, tactically they were strong, fast but you know Senegal had a good run but I would say the team that people are used to especially when I was growing up because 94, I wasn't yet there you know, the Super Eagles were pretty good and Cameroon obviously winning the African Cup of Nations that was pretty good and they won the Olympic games if I remember that team."

"Nigeria also won the Olympic games. They are all very good teams."

The Super Eagles of Nigeria remains the only African team to be ranked top 5 by FIFA despite exiting the tournament at the round of 16. Senegal, Cameroon, and Ghana remain the only African teams to book a place in the quarter-finals of the quadrennial tournament.
