Stoke City have signed former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi

Stoke City have signed former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi.

Former Chelsea man John Obi Mikel is back in England and will be playing in the championship with Stoke City.

The 33-year-old has been a free agent since he left Turkish side Trabzonspor in march and has since then been looking for a new club.

Mikel had his medical with the Potters on earlier today and the club coach Michael O’Neill has revealed how delighted he is to have the former Super Eagles of Nigeria captain in his side.

O’Neil” We’re delighted to bring John to the Club. His playing career speaks for itself and underlines his calibre as a player.

“I was really impressed with him when we met for the first time and he outlined what he wants from the next phase of his career.”

“We spent four hours talking and he made it clear he wants to get back into the Premier League and finish his career there and hopefully he can do that with Stoke City,”

Mikel will look to help Stoke City gain promotion into the Premier League when the new season begins though it might be difficult cause the club finished 15th on the Championship table last season.
