Manchester City humbled by Olympique Lyon

Manchester City humbled by Olympique Lyon
The French side have been regarded as one of the surprise teams in the UEFA Champions League this season eliminating both Juventus and Manchester City in the process.

Moussa Dembele’s late double sealed a 3-1 victory for the French giants in Saturday’s after Kevin De Brunye cancelled out Maxwel opener in the 24th.minute.

Due to the impact of Covid-19, the French league was forced to close prematurely declaring Paris Saint-Germain as champions. Despite that, it didn’t stop Lyon from creating two upsets in the Champions League this season.

Lyon coach Rudi Gracia have heaped praises on his boys stating that Moussa Dembele was disappointed before the game but he came back to score twice for his team today.

"Proud of my troops, proud of my players. We believed in us, that we could achieve this feat," the coach explained to RMC Sport after the final whistle.

"We only conceded one goal and that is due to the team spirit of the group. Moussa was disappointed but as I said before the match, I knew he was going to be decisive when he came back. I am delighted that he scored twice as he had not yet scored in the competition.

He further stated that Pep Guardiola is very unpredicatable due to his tactics but his team came out victorious tactically. He also stated that if this mindset is shown against Bayern, they can cause an upset too.

"With Pep, you have to expect anything. We knew he could cook up something to destabilise us, but we can say we won the tactical battle. After Leipzig, we mainly wanted to be in the round of 16 and that's what we had achieved. If we show that mindset, we can do something against Bayern."
