Liverpool won't go near Messi - Jamie Carragher

Liverpool won't go near Messi - Jamie Carragher

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is excited about the prospect of Barcelona star man Lionel Messi coming to the Premier League claiming he will like to watch him play week in week out.

There have been talks on where Lionel Messi will be playing next since he handed in his transfer request this week to Barcelona which is likely to end his 20-year spell at the club.

Many top clubs are now looking to bring the current World best player to their respective teams and Manchester City is leading the race as Messi former manager Pep Guardiola is the team coach.
Liverpool are also in the scene but Jamie Carragher thinks Liverpool won't go near him as the Argentine will be too expensive for the Premier League champions. He revealed this when he was asked 'whether Messi could join a Premier League team' on Sky Sports.

'I hope so, I would love to see Messi in the Premier League,' Carragher said

'I want to watch him, I want to analyze him. The obvious place, the only place he can really go [in England] is Manchester City.'

'With the history, he’s got with the manager [Pep Guardiola] and the financial clout the club have got.'

'I don’t think Liverpool will go anywhere near that situation. Financially, number one, but also because of the way Liverpool the play. City are more technical and that would suit Messi a bit more.'

'But how you get that deal across the line with the figures involved, I’m not too sure. It’s mind-boggling.'
