"He is so aggressive" Former Rangers star heaps praises on Leon Balogun

Ex Rangers star Alex Rae has poured encomiums on Leon Balogun’s performances since his arrival at Ibrox.

Scottish Premiership side Rangers signed the Nigerian centre-back Balogun on a free transfer this summer, penning a one-year deal.

The former Light Blues midfielder disclosed that the Nigerian is a clearer picture of Marvin Andrews due to his aggressiveness as he aided the club’s title win in 2004/05.

The 50 year old described balogun as an outstanding player who gained his attention due to his aggressiveness towards the game.

"Balogun has been absolutely outstanding since he came. He's so aggressive, I absolutely love it", Rae said on Rangers TV after the win over St Johnstone.

"You get guys that get tight and they are trying to anticipate, and you are constantly on the front foot against a centre-forward. They hate it and you almost wear them down.

"And this guy is getting great through the back.

He concluded that the 32 year old had the qualities of Marvin so well when in a pleasant mood had the abilty to make people’s bodies lying everywhere.

"He reminds me of big Marvin a lot when he is happy to hit the back of people and everything, there's people's bodies lying everywhere, it is brilliant."

Pairing up with Connor Goldson, Balogun has helped Rangers secure three conservative clean sheets recording victories also in their three league games so far.
