CAF, FIFA, NFF and Ajax celebrates Kanu on his birthday

Football associations round the world and Dutch giants, Ajax have all send their greetings while pouring encomiums to Nwankwu Kanu as he clocks a new age.

The Nigerian Football Federation described him as a Nigerian football legend not leaving out his individual achievements.

Confederation of African Football recognized Papilo as one of the continents greatest talents.

World football governing body FIFA were not left out of the birthday wishes as they lauded the arsenal legend who won the African Footballer of the year twice.

“Happy 44th birthday to the magician who was twice named African Footballer of the Year,” read a tweet from Fifa.

@papilokanu scored a last-gasp equaliser & the Golden Goal as the @NGSuperEagles upset Brazil in the semi-finals en route to gold at the @Olympics in 1996 🥇

Kanu joined Ajax in 1993 from Iwuanyanwu Nationale in Nigeria where he helped the Dutch giants win the champions league, 3 Eredivisie titles, UEFA super cup and intercontinental cup trophies before bidding farewell to join Inter Milan in 1996.

His brilliant performance earned him a move to Arsenal in 1999 as he won two premier league titles, the FA cup amongst others. He was also referred to as the best January signing for ex arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger.

In 2004, the Arsenal legend moved to Westbromwich Albon as he also played for Portsmouth before hanging his boots.

His heroics at the 1996 Olympics games in Atlanta as he led his team to her first gold medal in football.
The 44 year old scored 12 goals for the Super Eagles in 87 apperances.
