We need to improve - Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire believes his side needs to improve as their sloppy play was what cost them against Southampton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his boys needed a win to move them top of Chelsea on the Premier League but that was not the case as they fell to a late goal from Michael Obafemi in the added time of the second forty-five.

Speaking with Sky Sport, Maguire claims his side gave the ball away too much and with that, they brought a lot of pressure on themselves which Southampton actually capitalized on.

'Yeah we’re disappointed. We got control of the game, had numerous chances to kill the game off,’ He said

'We weren’t at our best, there’s loads of areas we need to improve in, but we did enough to win the game and a set-play has killed us in the end.'

'They're a team with no pressure on them, coming to Old Trafford, no fans, playing for pride in the league but can't get relegated and can't get Europe.'

'We knew they were going to press, they pressed like mad, jumped like mad and we didn't handle it well enough in the first 20 minutes, gave them a soft goal.'

'We got ourselves back into the game, where we wanted to be, but the second half was a bit of a slog. ‘We wasn’t good enough on the ball, gave the ball away far too much, as a team, everyone in the team.'

'We brought a bit of pressure onto ourselves but we felt like we did enough to win the game in the end and we should kill it off with a third goal.'
