I want to keep Luiz here - Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is happy with David and has sent a special message to the Arsenal board on his behalf.

David Luiz joined Arsenal from Chelsea when Unai Emery was still the coach of the London side.

Many thought the Brazillian actually actually signed a two-year contract with Arsenal but it was revealed last month that he only signed a year contract.

There have now been talks going on that Luiz will likely leave the club this summer but it doesn't seem so as the former Chelsea man is happy being with the club and his agent also revealed they are working on getting him an extension.

Arteta has now praised the defender and also sent a message to the club that he will love to have Luiz in his team as he has been role model to other players.

'I'm really happy with David, I want to keep him here with us,' Arteta said.

'He’s been a key role model for me since I joined.'

'I like what he produces on the pitch, I like his influence around the players and around the club. I would love to keep him.'

Arsenal will take on Mikel Arsenals former club tonight when the Premier League returns.
