Ronaldo and Mourinho fought for a long time - Luka Modric

Though Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a wonderful time under Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, Luka Modric has now revealed there was time both Portuguese almost came to blow.

Real Madrid was a joy to watch in the 2011/2012 La Liga season when they finish the campaign with 100 points to win the league ahead of their rival Barcelona.

This period was a time when almost all the players in Mourinho's Madrid squad was in top form. With the likes Karim Benzema scoring 32 season goal, Gonzalo Higuain getting 26 goals, and Cristiano Ronaldo with a whopping 60 season goals. Not to forget also the likes of Kaka, Angel Di Maria, Sami Khedira, and Xabi Alonso all there running the affairs of the Midfielder.

However, as glittering as it was then, Luka Modric has now revealed in his Biography which he titled 'The Game' how a time came when Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo didn't get along and almost got into a fight during the half-time talk in a Copa del Rey game.

'I was surprised by Mourinho's reaction. We were winning 2-0 in the Copa del Rey,’ He wrote

'Ronaldo did not chase the rivals on his throw-in and Jose was furious with Cristiano.'

'The two fought for a long time on the field. After returning to the locker room at half-time, I saw Ronaldo desperate, on the verge of tears.'

'He said, 'I do my best and he continues to criticise me.'

'Mourinho came in and began to criticise the Portuguese for his responsibility during the game.'

'They became so hot that only the intervention of the team-mates avoided a real fight between them.'
