We deserve to win a trophy: Dele Alli thinks his side is among the best in the world

We deserve to win a trophy: Dele Alli, Son rescues Spurs again

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Delle Alli thinks its time for his side to win a trophy after their hard-fought win against Southampton on Wednesday night.

The London side who had to fight really hard on Wednesday to book a place in the next round of FA Cup are yet to give their fans something to be happy about and the midfielder is not happy about that.

Wednesday encounter was really one of those games they had to give everything to win. Jose Mourinho and his boys were behind up until the 78th minute when Lucas Moura fires in the equalizer.

Spurs kept pushing, but Southampton was well prepared for them. Luck fells on Spurs' side when they were awarded a penalty and Heung-min Son fires it to the back of the net saving his side from extra-time.

Speaking with BT Sports after the game, Dele Alli praised his side character during the game and claims they are going all out for a trophy this season.

'It says a lot about the character we have. To go from such a big game at the weekend, it's easy to lose a game like this,' he said

'We showed great character, at times a bit sloppy, but sometimes it takes one little switch and I think it was their second goal.'

'It has been a long time coming, we've been one of the best teams in the world in the years we've been together, we deserve a trophy.'

'But no-one is going to give it to us, we have to keep pushing – and not just for us, but for the fans – we have to win something.'
