Mason Mount was unlucky - Michael Ballack

Chelsea legend Michael Ballack has revealed his opinion on Mason Mount struggle during Chelsea 3 nil defeat against Bundesliga side Bayern Munich last night.

Frank Lampard and his boys really had it difficult against the Bundesliga champion as they struggled to create clear chances during the game.

One highlight of the night was the battle between Mason Mount and Alphonso Davies.

Though all Chelsea players who came in contact with the Bundesliga star couldn't contain the 19-year-old as he beat them with pace and brilliant touches, Mason Mount had a big share of the problem as he couldn't beat the Bayern star on one on one situations.

Speaking after the game with Chelsea TV, Michael Ballack revealed Mason Mount was really unlucky and that Chelsea failed to position themselves better.

'He [Mount] was a bit unlucky, he was doing one versus one against Davies,' Ballack said

'He has phenomenal speed which you don’t just see in the Bundesliga but at international level, it’s outstanding.'

'He had two or three good runs and maybe a little bit of an advantage but he got beaten really quick.'

'But you also have to find different ways, that’s a learning process, next time he will position himself better, maybe they [the team] push up.'

'Also it’s a learning in the group as a team about positioning on the pitch better.'

'I thought most of the time they were too deep.'

'Even if you play sometimes deep, it’s not a problem to have it under control, but you have to change rhythm as well but they couldn’t do it, they couldn’t create it.'
