Why I had to leave Arsenal - Henrikn Mkhitaryan

Henrikn Mkhitaryan has explained why he had to leave Arsenal for As Roma.

Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal from Manchester United in a swap deal with then Arsenal player Alexis Sanchez going the other way.

But since the Armenia International joined the London side, he hasn't been able to establish himself in the starting eleven.

This season though would have been a good season for him but Arsenal decided to bring in Nicholas Pepe which automatically made him surplus to requirement.

Speaking ahead of his country's game against Italy, Mkhitaryan explain why he had to leave the London club.

'Everything happened in the last day right after the Tottenham game I got a call from my agent,’ Mkhitaryan revealed.

'He told me that I have to fly to Rome the next day to have a medical with the team and also sign a contract.'

'It is a great opportunity for me as I didn’t get a lot of playing time.'
