Liverpool have held discussions to sign Nicolas Pepe - Lille President

Lille President has revealed Liverpool have held talks with Nicolas Pepe and are ready to sign him.

Pepe who is currently playing in the Africa Nations Cup with his country had a wonderful campaign in the 2018/2019 season. Since then, the Ivory Coast international has been a transfer target for many big sides.

However, Lille are also trying all they can to keep their star man and even if they will let him, it's going to be with a huge amount of money.

Speaking with RMC Sport, Gerard Lopez 'Lille's President' has now confirmed that Liverpool already held discussions with the player and are looking forward to getting his signature.

‘I know there have been discussions with the player, not with us as a club,’ Lopez said

‘Liverpool have players in those positions and I read that maybe there were players who could leave, or not.

‘I am not particularly focused on Liverpool. But it is true that there have been discussions with agents.’

The president also revealed that the club had two offers for Pepe before he joined his country for the on-going Africa Nations Cup

‘We had two offers before the Africa Cup of Nations,’ he said.

‘We’ll see after that, my position was to see if we could not do something before it, we had two proposals before it, I had two clubs.’
