Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain issued an apology to angry Arsenal fans after Saturday's shambolic 3-1 defeat to West Brom.

The England international starred for 90 minutes as Arsenal succumbed to their fourth defeat in five Premier League matches, leaving their hopes of Champions League qualification in the balance.

Oxlade-Chamberlain said: ‘We’re bitterly disappointed. We’re sorry to the fans. That’s not acceptable for Arsenal Football Club.

"West Brom made it really tough and defended really well. We knew who their danger men were and we failed to stop them." he told Sky Sports.

Arsenal must now arrest a run that has seen them win just one of their last five league games if they are to continue their proud record of finishing in the top four in each of Wenger's 20 seasons at the club so far.

The international break means Arsenal host Manchester City on Sunday, April 2, while West Brom take on the other Manchester side that weekend, with United hosting the Baggies on Saturday, 1 April.
