Borussia Mönchengladbach can secure their place in the UCL league group stage today, with the Foals holding a 3-1 advantage over BSC Young Boys going into the play-off second leg at home Today (kick-off 20:45CEST/18:45GMT).
Gladbach are in the play-offs after finishing fourth in the Bundesliga last season and are on track to be included in Thursday's draw, which would represent a second successive campaign in Europe's elite club competition.
Coach Andre Schubert's men were clinical in Bern last week, making the most of their chances to score three away goals that could prove vital to their hopes of progressing.
Their efforts to do so received a boost during the week with the news that first choice goalkeeperYann Sommer has recovered from a foot injury and is ready to play again. Defender Nico Elvedi is likewise available once more after sitting out the club's 1-0 DFB Cup first round win over SV Drochtersen/Assel, but it is too soon for Marvin Schulz and Mamadou Doucoure, who are still working up to full fitness.
"We've put ourselves in a great position from the first-leg and are now desperate to make it to the group stages of the Champions League," said head coach Andre Schubert at the pre-match press conference at BORUSSIA-PARK on Tuesday. "That’s why none of my players will be taking anything for granted. It'll be our first home game of the season and we are expecting a full house and a fantastic atmosphere."
