What Arsenal are doing is encouraging - Frank Lampard

Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard has made his opinion known about the way Arsenal are doing their transfer business and hunt for a new coach.

The Former Chelsea man made it known Mikel Arteta might be a good Coach for the London club and also thinks a move for Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is not a bad idea.

Diego Simeone has been in charge  of Atletico Madrid for seven years now and he won the Europa League with the side yesterday after they trash Merseille 3-1 in the final. Antoine Griezmann was the star of the night as he got two goals and Godin got the third.

In an interview with Evening Standard, Frank Lampard said

'I welcome the news Mikel Arteta is the favourite to become the new manager at Arsenal, it is always encouraging to see a club give a young, up-and-coming coach a chance and Arteta has got what it takes to do a fine job,' he said

'Some will question his experience but he knows Arsenal very well from his time there as a player, while he is an intelligent man with a huge interest in tactics. He has worked under Pep Guardiola as his assistant for the last two years that cannot be underestimated. He will have learnt so much.'

'Had Arsenal chosen to look elsewhere for a more senior man, though, it would not have surprised me if they had considered Diego Simeone, I have not heard Simeone being linked too much with the posts that could be about to become available on these shores and I do not know why.'

'Maybe it is because he is happy at Atletico Madrid, who will be contesting the Europa League Final against Marseille tonight [which they won by 3-1] after knocking Arsenal out in the last round. He has done a fantastic job at Atletico. People may talk about  the style of play, and it is not like Manchester City, but it is affective.'

'Arsenal could have benefited had they employed him. He's a winner. He would give any team what it needs in terms of discipline and working on the defensive unit.'

Congratulations to Atletico Madrid for winning the Europa League.
